At the end of 1919, Lewis & Vought Corporation moved into its new ground-floor manufacturing facilities in Long Island City. Here, Vought started to produce the Navy’s VE-9 series in 1921. Vought was one of the few companies that maintained a steady business growth following the war. The organization was conspicuous for advanced engineering and well-trained personnel, resulting in an unusual record of continuous production and quality of operation.
